First, I must say that I'm very happy for the LGBT COMMUNITY on French St. Martin. I'm happy that they got their freedom to marry whom ever they desire.
Did it impacted my life in anyway? Yes it did. Seeing that we're a small island in the caribbean, with strong religous ties, its a MONUMENTAL win for the LGBT COMMUNITY on the french side. I knew it couldn't have been easy for them, because they came up against some strong opposition, protests; and came through it all with the right to be able to marry their SAME SEX PARTNER. All in all I'm happy that SAME SEX COUPLES are allowed to get married on French St. Martin.
Now I'm a Dutch Antillean, living on Dutch St. Maarten for many years, I'm not going to the french side, Saba, St. Eustatius, Bonaire or anywhere else as a matter of fact, to get married to my partner, and then return home to register our marriage.
That process doesn't make any sense to me at all. You are allowing me to register my marriage to my SAME SEX PARTNER, but you're not allowing me to do the whole proceedure here, like for instance, taking out a marriage license for my SAME SEX PARTNER and myself.
Its very easy for me to say, LEGALIZE SAME SEX MARRIAGE on dutch St. Maarten because of the half ass process that's been done here!!!!! LEGALIZE MARRIAGE EQUALITY FOR THE LGBT COMMUNITY here on ST. MAARTEN DUTCH WEST INDIES!!!!!!!
